Scan for and remove viruses


Viruses can be dwelling in your computer without you noticing it or becoming aware of it until it begins to manifest itself by causing your computer to have problems that are not usually there before its arrival. Most formidable of the problems people experience in the presence of virus on their computer is lose of email accounts and important online accounts.

This is how it happens, some viruses collect the personal information of the person that owns the computer they are hosted in and send it to the database of the virus programmer. Such information would later be used to access the accounts of the victim. For such an operation to be carried out your internet access will have to be involved and this means the virus will connect to the internet through your broadband internet unnoticed. While this is going on, your bandwidth usage will expand and cause your normal browsing to become terribly slow. Restarting the computer and broadband internet connection at that time cannot do anything.

Update your firmware


Firmware update might be the solution to your broadband internet problem. Some internet services do not perform well once the firmware supporting the modem used to connect to the internet runs out of date. Update your firmware at the manufacturer’s website or update it directly from the program itself.

It is also important that all the software applications on your system are up to date. Using any outdated software application on your computer will make your computer slow and your browsing will consequently become slow.

Don’t startup programs automatically

Stop programs from starting up automatically with the system. The programs on your system require to be processed on the system operating memory (random access memory) for it to run. When many applications are running on the operating memory, together with the system files, the speed of your computer will reduce because the system will have to allocate the processing work to the hard disk.

To stop programs from starting up with your computer, click the start button, All Programs and click windows defender, click the tool button, and then click software explorer, in the category box, click startup options and then select the program that you want to stop from running on startup and select disable.

Remove unused files and empty recycle bin

There are some files on your hard disk that are no longer useful to you but are still taking up the space that could be used to make your computer work faster. Locate every file, document and application that you think is no more of use to you and remove them from your system.

It is important that you empty the recycle bin regularly to help free up the hard disk. Some people can’t believe the files that are in the recycle bin are still on the computer’s hard disk. If you want to bypass sending the files you delete into the recycle bin, press shift+del simultaneously whenever you want to delete any file from your computer.
