Scan for and remove viruses

Don’t startup programs automatically
Stop programs from starting up automatically with the system. The programs on your system require to be processed on the system operating memory (random access memory) for it to run. When many applications are running on the operating memory, together with the system files, the speed of your computer will reduce because the system will have to allocate the processing work to the hard disk.
To stop programs from starting up with your computer, click the start button, All Programs and click windows defender, click the tool button, and then click software explorer, in the category box, click startup options and then select the program that you want to stop from running on startup and select disable.
Remove unused files and empty recycle bin
There are some files on your hard disk that are no longer useful to you but are still taking up the space that could be used to make your computer work faster. Locate every file, document and application that you think is no more of use to you and remove them from your system.
It is important that you empty the recycle bin regularly to help free up the hard disk. Some people can’t believe the files that are in the recycle bin are still on the computer’s hard disk. If you want to bypass sending the files you delete into the recycle bin, press shift+del simultaneously whenever you want to delete any file from your computer.
