Then most people would think of reformatting and reinstalling their copy of Windows in the system and the problem will resolve, but I will show you there is another way that your OS can be salvaged. This feature is inbuilt in your system, this tool known as System File Checker(SFC).
How does SFC work in your system?
SFC works in ways that when it is executed in any system, it would proceed to scan for any damaged Windows files. Once the damage windows file found, the tool would then attempt to fix this error. If the tool is successful fix it, the user would not have to reinstall the whole operating system.
Ways to execute SFC
If you want to execute the SFC tool. You can execute it via command line. This process also depends on your own version of windows. you can choose to run the tool or Command Prompt. these command line run in Administrative mode. Now you have to type [sfc/scannowand] and hit the Enter Key.
Now SFC process begins scanning for corrupted files in your system, which will take a while. Once the scan your system is complete, the tool will inform you what is the error. if your system has any corrupted files. if it has managed to fix said corrupted files.
In the method, your version of Windows is corrupted to the point that booting into the OS is impossible so this is the error if face problem for running SFC you have other methods to execute SFC. The first method is to boot Windows into Recovery Mode and launch Command Prompt from there.
This the second method to run SFC on your hard drive is by relying on another Windows machine is depending upon your operating system. you’ll need to connect the hard drive with the corrupted version of Windows to another functional Windows machine.
After that, you can input an another version of the SFC command to scan the drive instead. The command in question is [sfc/scannow /OFFBOOTDIR=d:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\windows] with the “d:” being replaced with whatever alphabet your hard drive you put.
When the SFC process will not fix the error. those with a severely corrupted version of Windows may not find it to be enough. Now the last option for repairing your version of the window in reinstall your Os. The method of Recover the Windows is shown in my another blog.
